What Should I Eat Tonight?

What to have tonight? It's getting warm again so you can't be doing with anything too heavy, but you still want something that is filling. Sushi is out because cooking that is complicated and fish and chips is simple but also expensive (have you seen how much cod costs?!). We all know that cooking in these modern times is difficult enough without having to shell out a considerable amount of money, so here's what you should make for dinner tonight:

Tilapia with a side of broccoli! This child-friendly menu* is a great, super easy and rather affordable choice actually, all things considered. You can get a box of them at Publix for like EIGHT DOLLARS WITH EIGHT FISH IN IT.

excited for fish
I know, right?
What do I need?

Some tilapia and some broccoli. Green veggies are best, but you can also have some tinned corn or even a potato salad.

How do I do it?

Okay, cooking fish is straightforward but, like anything, you will fuck it up if you are not careful. Put a pan on the stove with a little bit of oil in, medium heat, until it has spread everywhere. Put the fish on it, hover over it while worrying, turn it around. Flip it around halfway through, stare at it, hope it's okay. The process will take you a little less than ten minutes depending on how high your heat is. Do not put your heat up too high or you risk burning your fish.

Put some lime on your fish, serve with vegetables and other garnish and gobble it down!

What Should I Eat Tonight?

Tonight on the menu... the trusted spud! You are having an absolutely low effort, super easy, extremely quick, designed for the lazy meal. If you are like a super serious cook, you can put your spud in the oven for like an hour and get it all nice and brown.

Or you can just wash it, fork it to death, put it in the microwave and hope that it cooks evenly. Personally, I always go for the second option! There is something so delicious about so little effort. In all seriousness, the jacket potato is a super great and easy meal choice.

A potato can take you anywhere from five minutes to a couple of hours, depending on your level of commitment. Obviously the amount of effort you put in depends entirely on your schedule.

How do you make a jacket potato?
Really?

Take the potato. Wash the potato. Put the potato in microwave. The best methods for making jacket potatoes are hotly debated topics by chefs all around the world. Aluminium keeps your potatoes hot until they are ready to eat. If you are super lucky, you may even get your own lights show (but it's totally super rare, don't worry.)

What do I put on the jacket potato?

It depends! Are you feeling supremely lazy? Leftovers of marinated mince can make a super awesome topping, but you may only want to go for cheese. The meal will still be quite filling and starchy even without a protein, but don't deprive yourself. The strength of potato lies in how versatile it is, so remember, put whatever you want on it until it works (I would skip desserts though)

On the menu tonight is a whatever jacket potato with a side salad with no dressing. Enjoy your super classy totally fit for a dinner party dinner tonight!

What Should I Eat Tonight?

So like, I haven't eaten in months. Or slept. Or anything. Thankfully I'm back from the grave to provide you with more ridiculously easy recipes that will make you keel over with taste explosions or something. Turns out March is a dickhead and it's still freezing. But obvi you don't want to eat like a pig with summer just around the corner so hearty food is out of the question. So you need to have something that is quite filling and good for cold days, but it also needs to be deceptively light. Obviously if you are starving just mixed some more potatoes in there or whatever.

What the fuck should I eat tonight?

You should eat... Tomato Soup!

Couldn't be easier to make and you will probably have all the ingredients at home. Or most of the ingredients at the very list. You need to get some heavy cream and some cans of tomatoes. You also need to have some chicken broth. You probably have some, just look in the back of the cupboard. See? There you go. Okay, so this recipe will take you like twenty minutes. This is also a great date meal with a little bit of bread, especially if taken with wine when outside. But you aren't going to go outside, who are we kidding?

Anyway. How Do You Make That?

You are going to take 2 containers of stock and put them in a pan. Pour your one tin of crushed tomatoes in it. Make sure that it's at medium heat but lower is better than higher. Look at pictures of cats on your phone or something. Pay attention, though! Once your soup starts to bubble at the top, pour a can of heavy cream in it and lower the heat.

Add some salt and pepper. Put some garlic bread in the oven and wait around for about 15 minutes. Then put it in the blender for a couple of minutes but make sure it doesn't get like super cold. That's it! You're done! You only have to get up for 20 minutes and then this is you:

What Should I Eat Tonight?

It's getting cold now. Well, it's kind of getting cold, but I live in Florida, and by cold I mean I can't go to the pool because it's cloudy, but if I do I will probably still get a tan. Anyway, for those of you that are somewhere where it is already getting really fucking cold, you need to find yourself something nice and hearty to eat tonight. But is there any way to make food tonight without having to make any.. well, effort? Yes, there is!

You Should Eat... Beef and Potato Soup With Cheese!

You can make it into a date meal by adding garlic bread.

How Do You Make That?

Get some steak and potatoes. Cut and peel your potatoes and put them in some broth. By broth, I mean salted water, which then you can add a chicken stock cube to if you must. Leave in for like 50 minutes until it's all nice and mushy, add more water if it's too thick and stick some frozen vegetables in there when it's like nearly time to eat. Sprinkle cheddar cheese on top and enjoy your food. I know peeling potatoes might seem like it takes a while, but it takes like 10 minutes. Just do it as soon as you get home from work for best results.

What Should I Eat Tonight?

It's Wednesday. That is, like, the day people want to cook on the least. Because it's close to Friday, but not close enough - you are probably going to have to take a bit of time out of your day to make something tasty and healthy-ish. And those leftovers aren't chilli and they do not get better with time. I'm here to help you - what are you going to eat tonight? Food is supposed to be cheap and fun! Yet it doesn't seem to be that most of the time. But tonight, it will be!

What Should You Eat Tonight?

...You Should Eat: Stir Fry!

Awesome, tasty and cheap, stir fry is the matron saint of students and young professionals everywhere.

How Do You Make Stir Fry?

Take a sauce you like (soy sauce is nice), get a bunch of vegetables from your cupboard and put them in a pan with oil. Then take a bit of meat, chicken, prawn/shrimp or tofu and put it in. Make sure that your meat is cooked through before you serve yourself (and your guests, because if you kill them that's manslaughter) and enjoy your amazing food. How awesome that? You didn't even have to change back into your outside-clothes for dinner tonight.
